Young, Bald and Kicking Ass: Role Models for Teens and Young Adults with Premature Hair Loss
It’s Time For Young, Bald Role Models
If you are experiencing hair loss at a young age, society offers little comfort or role models for you to confide in. Nearly every other physical issue that could affect self-esteem is addressed by some product or celebrity. If you are overweight, you can likely improve your condition by changing your eating or fitness habits. Hell, it’s not even hard to find overweight celebrities that teach self-acceptance (healthy self-esteem) and what I consider “fat pride” (Pride in being overweight but ignoring the health risks). If you have acne, you can be treated or at least felt understood by watching a Proactive commercial. If have bad style, that can be remedied. If you can’t talk to girls, you can read a book or study sketchy youtube pickup artists. Even those of us who are vertically challenged can take solace in a plethora of 5’7 actors that everyone would have to admit are sexy af.
But what about hair loss? There is no virtue signaling for hair loss in young men. I can’t think of a single teenage/20ish actor who lost their hair and is considered sexy. Yes, there are sexy bald actors in their 30’s and 40’s, but this causes a rapidly balding teenager to feel afflicted instead of empowered.
Young men who suffer from hair loss have far less control over hair loss than those who suffer from other issues; hair loss is 95% genetic. There is no working out, eating better, or magic product that improves hair loss. There is only acceptance, and this premature taste of mortality stings deep in the psyche of young men. Furthermore, there are plenty of predatory companies and doctors looking to take advantage and cash-in of the fragile insecurities of these young men.
Nevertheless, hair loss is far from the end of the line for young men. It may feel like the end of the world (see how I felt here), but what young men with hair loss eventually figure out is that they can kick more ass than their hairy brethren by simply focusing on that weak thing between their ears.
So, I decided that it’s time for this drought of positive reinforcement to end. I will be interviewing young men who aren’t just bald, but who decided to own the shitty hand dealt to them by nature and become badasses. These are awesome men who are successful in all facets of life, especially dating. I believe their experiences and advice will help empower those balding, young men fortunate enough to visit this site. Losing hair is just what’s on the top of the head; it should never be a state of mind. These men will help prove it 🙂
